Life in Lexington

In case any of you still read this and are wondering, yes we are still alive. And we don't live in Oklahoma anymore. We now live in beautiful Lexington, KY where Dave will finish his LAST rotation! Yeah! Don't get me wrong, I have loved our little adventure of packing up our little u-haul trailer, praying everything will fit, and then moving somewhere new every 3 months. We have seen parts of the country that we probably would never have gotten to experience otherwise. However, I'm excited to see a light at the end of the tunnel and know that graduation is just 2 short months away.

Some of you may be wondering what comes next. Well, Dave made it into his top choice for a residency program at the competitive Kansas City VA Hospital, which means we'll be moving to Missouri for an ENTIRE year. I'm still not sure what we'll do for that long in one place. I'm so proud of all the hard work Dave has done to make himself qualified for this residency and I know he is excited to learn from a fantastic doctor and educator.

So, on to our life in Lexington. We have found a cute little house to rent, which we are pretty excited about since we have never not lived in an apartment. The kids love having all the space to run around in, and I love that we even have enough rooms for a toy room. We also have our own backyard, which has been so much fun to play and work in.

We are acclimating to Lexington rather quickly. Kentucky has beautiful rolling plains and spring has come early with lots of green and blossoms and flowers. We live in an older, quiet little neighborhood with plenty of sidewalk for me to run on. We have learned a little bit about the horse racing culture, having toured a pretty ritzy horse farm owned by the Sheikh of Dubai and are looking forward to learning more as racing season begins shortly.

Dave is working at the Lexington VA, which requires long strenuous days. However, he only works four days a week so we have had fun with him home an extra day every week.

Our favorite thing we've done here so far is the nearby Red River Gorge with its stunning rock walls and natural arches and plenty of green vegetation and miles of hiking. I'm sure we will be returning soon. Here are some pictures documenting our adventure:

Hey Kansas City is great. Ryan's parents used to live there, and there's lots of fun activities there. Particularly an AWESOME train station that has a great children's/science museum down below. Super fun.
The weather? Insane. But lots of stuff to do.
And your new little house sounds so cozy! Good for you (for the next few months anyway. :)
